American Queen

3/5. Erotic M/M/F romance about a woman who ends up involved in a triad with the President and Vice President and it is all so dramatique and tragique.

On the plus side, this is not one of those M/M/F books where the men mincingly do not touch each other. These swords do cross.

On the minus, the heroine here writes a dirty email towards the beginning in which she tells one of the heroes that she wants to be bad, but not in common, boring ways, and I immediately thought oh no, the sex in this is going to be boring. And indeed, it is quite kinky, I suppose, by which I mean there’s a BDSM element where the older man orders the younger woman around and degrades and humiliates her, which, I mean, that is plenty of people’s cup of tea, but it’s about as common and boring as you can get, IMHO. Also, the way these people carried on, you’d think three consenting adults having a polyamorous relationship was a crime punishable by death, and also something that no human beings had ever done before in the history of time.

Vaguely entertaining but not worth carrying on to the next book.

Content notes: Underage briefly, age difference as a kink, BDSM
