Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

My rating: 1 of 5 stars
Midwestern girl, half-human half-vampire child of rape, hunts vampires at nightclubs until she gets involved with one (yes, like that) and is drawn into the big leagues of fighting evil.

I gave it 175 pages, then caught myself thinking about my toenails while I read. They were more interesting. No worldbuilding, no spark in the romance, no interesting secondary characters -- no characters at all for nearly 70 pages except for the heroine and her vampire squeeze. Oh, and the hero is a blonde British vampire who hits very crudely on the heroine using his sexy British slang, except he totally loves her in his unbeating heart. Frost imprinted really hard on Spike, is what I mean, except Spike could actually keep me awake.
