Yes, and that, for those nihilist characters, the triumph of their gender was more important than the survival of any individuals. It seemed very childish, like... well, like a school shooter who is more concerned with inflicting pain and destruction on the people who have been bullying them (and on all the bystanders) than with making the bullying stop.

ETA: I guess what appalls me is the underlying assumption that a new, better world is not an option. That the best one can hope for, in this world or any other, is to be on top.
