The nihilism horrified me here. And I realized, well yes, given the power, women might well be as abusive as men have been. So that's depressing. Especially when one character articulates that, it's okay if they wind up bombing themselves back into the Stone age, because when civilization resurrects itself, women will be on top. As if her own survival doesn't matter, nor that of anyone she loves or has ever met. My unexamined assumption, that the more power women have, the more humane the human race will be, may be unfounded.
But I like what you've pointed out: even if women were AS abusive as men, it would be in different ways. For one thing, a woman can't be cuckolded. So matriarchs, while they might try to control men's sexuality, wouldn't be doing it to ensure their biological children inherit their wealth, the way a patriarch would.
