Stariel books by A.J. Lancaster

The Lord of Stariel, The Prince of Secrets, and The Court of Mortals

3/5. First three of a four-book fantasy of manners series about the woman who unexpectedly inherits title to her family’s faerie estate, magic and romance with a faerie prince ensues.

Yes, there are four of these and I’m stopping at three. What’s wrong with them? It’s a good question. These are frothy fun with some interesting faerie nonsense. Both our protagonists have big, troublesome families and lots of entanglements and chewy personal conflicts, and their romance is star-crossed or whatever. But, IDK, they just don’t have it. I mean It. You know. The thing that makes me do more than skim. I wish I knew what it was more than that.
