Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Amelia and Emily Nagoski

Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle

2/5. On the wrong side of the fuzzy pop psych/self-help boundary for me. And like most self-help, this left me with a headache from all the eye-rolling. I don't need a book to tell me that exercise and hugs help me relieve stress. Like….no shit? Also in the not-for-me column, this book has to be all cutesy about the concept of patriarchy in case, as they lampshade, readers don't like the word or believe in it. The authors, who read the audio, literally say "patriarchy, ugh" wherever the word appears. Literally.

Probably a good book for someone who is profoundly not me, and who wants someone to validate her feeling that she is working harder than the men around her but can't put her finger on exactly how that happened, and who can't figure out how to handle the (real and awful) stress of that.
