I haven't a clue about this book or this author, and as such I also haven't a clue about the publisher of the book. That said, one of the most frustrating things about a lot of M/M publishing houses terms for submission, is that they don't allow homophobia. As in they won't permit writers to use negative words about gay people, or even to portray anything negative about being gay in the real world.
I remember editing a novel for someone and being told that she couldn't do what I was suggesting because _________ publishing house didn't allow it.
And I'm with you, the resulting pap frustrates the hell out of me.
