Hmmm, have you read any of the Vorkosigan books by Lois McMaster Bujold? Because her "Civil Campaign" is a tribute to, among others, Sayers.

Also...in a totally different direction: The Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson.

And, I wouldn't mind reading what you think about Stephanie Meyer's series: Twilight.

My female students (ESL, 14 years old) are *fanatical* about these books. OMG! They are actually reading, and, for some of them, for the very first time, a *non-obligatory* novel! (First JKR, now SM! There is hope for the future! If they're reading now, there's a good chance they will continue reading! I hope. Fingers crossed!)
