I had a very similar reaction, though I'm less bothered by the making money part because fuck the claimants to the Holmes estate in particular--they have been overclaiming their rights, if any, for decades. But definitely the author's id didn't overlap with my id in this particular instance, even though I've enjoyed her work a lot before.
