I have contemplated this series but never managed to make a start. 49 books does seem like a major commitment, but then I’ve just finished book 20 in Elizabeth George’s Inspector Lynley & Barbara Havers series, and they’re not exactly short.... hmmm.

I took the last of KJ Charles’ Magpie Lord trilogy into the hospital with me for post delivery reading, and it worked well; it was also the last novel I read for about six months, as babies + sleep deprivation + post natal anxiety completely ruined narrative for me for some time.
