I agree, there's a time and a place for books like that, and they can be a great time to read. To mange a scene in Finding Forrester, the young writer Jamal asks the pulitzer prize winning author Forrester why he reads the Enquirer, shouldn't he be reading the New York Times or something? Forrester responds that the Times is for dinner but the Enquirer is for desert.
