...Yeah. This is one of the best books I've read in, oh, the last five years; it really changed the way I thought about a lot of things, including a lot of mechanisms/procedures I work with which fit exactly into this way of looking at things. The convergent evolution is really cool.
you can't beat situational bias, subconscious corner-cutting, all the other brain failure modes by being smart. You just can't.
I think this is such a hard thing to really get. (That's another thing about this book: it forced me to stop lying to myself that I really could handle it all, because gosh darn it, I'm smart enough, right? ...smart doesn't cut it, as you say.) But so true!
