*shudders* I thought The Screwfly Solution sounded familiar, but I was half way through reading your link to it when I remembered the story. I must have read it over 20 years ago, and it's just as chilling now as it was then. Even more so, really, cause the older you get, the more you see how fucked up gender & power are in the world, the scarier this kind of thing is.

SO THANK YOU FOR THAT, LIGHT :D No, really, it's a fantastic story and one that somehow doesn't bring with it a slightly dated 70s second-wave-feminism-dread-of-men feel to it. It feels like it could happen tomorrow, from any one of a number of causes.

Eeep. Now I'm having A Handmaid's Tale flashbacks, which seems daily like a more likely scenario as well. Imma go hide under the bed now, okay?
