ellen_fremedon: overlapping pages from Beowulf manuscript, one with a large rubric, on a maroon ground (Default)

I won a second-edition paperback of Warm Worlds and Otherwise, the collection that has "The Women Men Don't See", in this year's Tiptree auction. Warm Worlds is the one with the famous Robert Silverberg introduction, the one where he says there is something "ineluctably masculine" about Tiptree's writing; the second edition includes the introduction as originally printed, but with an extremely defensive post-script.

And, yeah. When Tiptree stories work, or even sometimes when they don't quite, there's nothing like them. And they stay with you.
